I just returned from a 4-day writing retreat where I finished my book, Inner Focus Golf.
It was epic. I did nothing but thinkg about the book and write the book. I would write until my eyes went blurry and my back felt broke from sittng so long. I forgot to eat, I forgot to drink water, I just wrote. It was incredible.
While there, I realized “I AM A WRITER.”
I write books.
I write eCourses.
I write articles.
I write skits.
I write music videos.
I write sales copy.
I write newsletters.
I write lesson outlines.
I write A LOT of emails.
I write for a living and gosh darnit, I’m a writer.
Locking myself in a cabin and writing my dream book certainly opened me up to a part of myself that I hadn’t fully met. I was completely in my element and I want MORE of it.
This is why I began the “Writing Daily” challenge this month.
Because WE ARE ALL WRITERS on this mountain.
And if we want to make damn fine eCourses, then we need to be damn fine writers.
If we can do write well, then we can do all of the things we’re required to do with our business well too.
THE END.
November 9, 2017 at 8:19 am #61577Congratulations, Writer!!!
This is my favorite part of your post:
I just returned from a 4-day writing retreat where I finished my book, Inner Focus Golf.
You FINISHED YOUR BOOK! That is crazy – crazy awesome. I’m stoked for you.
I love what you say about being a writer. It reminds me of something Jeff Goins talks about routinely in his blog posts and podcasts, that you’re not a writer when someone else says you’re a writer. You are a writer when YOU say you are a writer. It sounds like you had that epiphany, that you’re the one holding the cards, that you’re the one who gets to define your own identity. How truly exciting and awe-inspiring. I’m so glad that you can share this moment with all of us!
WOOHOO!!!
November 9, 2017 at 10:38 am #61612Fantastic work @bradleytmorris Well done. I shall say, as you have said.. that I AM a writer. Thanks for leading by example.
November 10, 2017 at 11:15 am #61720Hey Bradley – I am reminded of a seemingly silly group exercise Jen Louden does in her writing retreats: everyone wanders around introducing themselves to each other thusly: Hi, I’m ___________; I’m a writer and I write. (So I’d come up to you, shake your hand, and say, “Hi, I’m Judy. I’m a writer and I write.”)
We giggled a lot while we did this, and it was surprising how challenging it was to say those words out loud–“I’M A WRITER AND I WRITE,” even for those of us who earn our living as writers. I came away with a heightened appreciation for the power (and challenge) of proclaiming our truth out loud.
I’m a writer, and I write.
Just that simple, which is not so simple at all.
November 10, 2017 at 7:32 pm #61747Thanks for a piece of the inspiration behind the new video I am sharing next Tuesday in our Beyond the Blueprint @judyb (i’m switching them to Tuesdays, rather than Fridays). It was a HUGE breakthrough to claim it, speak it and feel it.
November 10, 2017 at 7:43 pm #61749Progress Update:
Yesterday: I didn’t write anything yesterday, but that’s because Blair and I were in the studio for a solid 12 hours recording a bunch of custom meditation tracks for a meditation app we’re co-creating for teenagers. We are building it with MindValley and another company. It was an amazing, full, super productive day. I love working with my buddy Blair (who did all the video work for the eCourse Adventure). We have a lot of fun making studio magic together.
Today: I made up for my lack of writing yesterday. Today, I wrote two articles and wrote/recorded 3-videos.
- I wrote an article called, “You are a Professional Writer. So Act Like It” and made a fun video to go with it. This was based on an epiphany I had while on my 4-day writing retreat last week.
- I made another article called, “How I Wrote a Book in 4-Days” and it goes into my creative process and how I structured my short window of time while I created my book. I also made a video talking about my time up on the lake writing my book, which will also be turned into a podcast episode.
- Plus, I made a fun bonus video. It takes place in the Akashic Records, where your record guardian informs you that you have so many untold stories hidden within you and it is your job to begin writing and telling them.
Notice the theme about writing here?
At least 2/3 of those will be released in the Tuesday Beyond the Blueprint next week.
Happy writing ya’ll. I’m taking a weekend now!
November 14, 2017 at 11:38 am #62106Woohoo! MASSIVE congratulations Bradley – you finished your book! I am so excited for you! It sounds like it has been an amazing 4 days that have brought about a lot of changes in your thinking and approach. I can’t wait for beyond the blueprint now to see some of the creations that your 4 day retreat has brought about.
Ooh, and really pleased you changed it to a Tuesday. I think that works much better. When i get it on a Friday I sometimes forget to read it because Friday is the start of family weekend time (I usually don’t get it till late on a Friday night with the time difference between us) and by the time Monday comes around there’s 100 emails on top of it to get through first. I know…that’s not good at all – my bad, sorry! – but I’m sure I can’t be the only one that lets this happen? So I think a shift to Tuesday is a great idea.

You are an inspiration!
A real king of writing and creative prowess and such a great coach and cheerleader!
Thanks for updating us on the magic pouring outta your… pores lately!
November 15, 2017 at 9:19 am #62252Walking your talk @bradleytmorris and showing us how to show UP! Thank you.
November 15, 2017 at 10:02 am #62265Thank you @tripphanson, @davidj and @saramccann
I just put a dozen manuscripts in envelopes to send out to some test readers.
One of which plays on the LPGA, the other played the CPGA Tour for years.
November 15, 2017 at 5:06 pm #62343@bradleytmorris – First, kudos on all of your progress! How exciting to know that your work is going to be hitting the hands of your intended audience. Please share the feedback with the rest of us so we can live vicariously.
Second, i have a question about this week’s BTB – is this the nes thinking, that you put it out in as many formats as possible? So if you write s blog then you record it to audio? And if you create video or audio then you publish it with the script? I like this idea that people have options for absorbing your material and we all have our preferred learning styles. It’s one of the things that I’m thinking about as I get ready to expand my website.
thanks again for leading the way. I’m
November 15, 2017 at 8:21 pm #62357Yes, @laurakoller. Trying to hit all the learning styles. It’s not much extra work, but it pays off great! Plus people can find me via Soundcloud, Youtube or on the blog. It’s great. Wish I would’ve started long ago. LOL
November 16, 2017 at 8:17 pm #62484Today I had a meeting with a good friend and mentor. I was asking for advice on scaling the GEA and all of the other work I’m doing through all my businesses (GEA, production, consulting, coaching, meditation, golf, live streaming, building a market place, etc…)
He advised me to consolidate all of my businesses under one umbrella, make a pitch deck and get some investment money. He actually told me that he’d be the first to invest.
I walked away feeling really clear, confident and finally in alignment with the path ahead.
I got to work this afternoon and finished about half of the pitch deck (which is like a business plan in powerpoint).
I’m so grateful for friends who have far more wisdom than I do and are willing to dish it out in ways I can understand and run with.
The business side of business has never been my strong suit. I am an ideas and implementation guy. I am a “just f’ing go for it and figure it out as we do” kind of entrepreneur. I’ve done well for myself in my 13 years, but it feels good to finally have some mentorship so I can do things better and righter (haha not a word, but it feels appropriate).
So my 750+ words had to do with business planning.
November 17, 2017 at 6:42 pm #62585@bradleytmorris – I think you’re allowed to make up words when you’ve become successful. Besides, the English language grows every year. Who would have thought of using the word blog or internet only a generation ago? Righter indeed.
Anyway, so excited for you. I like the idea of the umbrella. It focuses your message, your services, everything you have to contribute to the world. It might even help you decide your top priorities so you can hire out or backburner some other things (FYI backburner is not a verb as far as I know but that worked didn’t it?)
bradleytmorris enterprises? What will be the name, the theme? What do all these ideas have in common (other than an imaginative creator?). Harness your inner power!
good luck with the slide deck and thrilled you’ve got clever idea bouncers in your life. Share with us if you dare! I’d love to see what this deck looks like.
And a willing investor already? Super!!!
November 17, 2017 at 6:44 pm #62587PS have you ever contacted your 12th grade English teacher and shared your success? Your recent posts about writing? I’d think it might be thrilling and/or enlightening to know!!!
- I wrote an article called, “You are a Professional Writer. So Act Like It” and made a fun video to go with it. This was based on an epiphany I had while on my 4-day writing retreat last week.
