    @davidj – I’m so eager to see how this all comes together for you!

    I struggle with the idea of pricing and how to make that fit with the puzzle.  I’ve watched webinars and presentations that give instructions on pricing a course – assuming that you can just decide how much money you want to make, decide how many people will want to sign up, divide one figure by the other, and things will work out just as you expect.  I’ve never been satisfied with that train of thought.  I’m still not sure what I’m going to charge for what, or even what I’m going to be asking people to pay for.  Completing a course for continuing education?  Joining a community for a long period of time, possibly a lifetime?

    This is going to be a really dear group of men that start this journey with you.  They may feel super excited and/or super vulnerable as they start this journey with you.  I’m wondering if you can just offer a one-time introductory price (with possible discounts for people who are hard on their luck at the moment or who are willing to pay in full up front) for a certain amount of time (you decide how long you’re going to need to get this off the ground – 6 months?  12 months?)  They can pay all at once or month by month for a year.  After that they can continue with an annual or monthly membership, or maybe you’ll be willing to grandfather them into a lifetime membership because they’ve been so instrumental to your success.

    I’m just trying to look at the pricing structure and, as a possible participant, I’m trying to figure out where I would start.  I’m trying to decide if I can afford to participate, if I really want to open myself up to this vulnerability, and how long I’m going to do it.  My brain is hurting because I can’t make up my mind how long I’m going to need/want to do it, whether I can afford the longer timeline for a discount – so I just put off the decision and I don’t join because I’m suffering from decision fatigue and can’t follow through on my intention.  It’s like having that one item in the Amazon cart and trying to decide if I’m willing to pay for shipping or whether I can find a couple of items to reach the minimum price for free shipping.  It seems to matter a lot when I’m signing up, so much that it may stop me from pulling the trigger (and has, sometimes for two weeks or more even for an item that I’d like right now) but in the whole scope of things it’s small beans.  What really matters is that I jump in with you and commit myself to this initial community.

    That’s what I like about GEA, especially this month.  Gain lifetime membership for one price, or join month-to-month at a smaller price.  For these initial members, you can request a minimum up-front commitment so they don’t drop out after month 1 or 2, if that worries you.

    So that’s the crazy Laura response.  Don’t make their heads hurt any more than necessary.  Enable them to sign up for one year or a lifetime at one price, or join month-to-month at another.  All those in betweens just make things complicated and, as silly as it may sound, may actually increase the resistance that people have to signing up for something that they’re probably already feeling resistant about.

    KISS – Keep it Simple, Sweetie!

    David, this looks awesome. My suggestion is to tell a few of those buddies your plan and get their response on pricing, layout, format, commitment, etc… Ask them before committing to the offering. Build what they want 😉

    I definitely think you’re right on track with all that you said, and now you just need to confirm that hunch by checking in with them and asking a few for feedback. Way to leap over the edge.

    Just posted the survey more publicly (beyond my friend circle) and getting some rich responses.

    Decided that I will launch the MASTERHEART by January as an official launch of the movement. Start small and build from inside the core out…

    @laurakoller

    I appreciate your considerations and suggestions on the pricing. I follow Heart of Business advice and did a heart resonance process. That price works for me to feel right to deliver at the level of integrity and generosity I wish to. And, your suggestions of the first time (less risk) price, the lifetime price and early founders discounts are all worthy ideas to ponder.

    @bradleytmorris

    I am really curious about Mighty Networks and have considerations about them (see comment earlier on this thread). Wondering if there is anyone testing it out and if there is a discussion anyone on GEA about them.

    @saramccann and @mars

    You both are such amazing cheerleaders and allies to have in my corner.

    Along with Laura, here, and @jutta (my mastermind buddy from GEA) I feel like I have these amazing wise and wonderful “sisters” supporting me to do this vulnerable and vital work with men.

    Thank you for being so supportive.

    Your GEA sisters are the women who can vouch from personal experience how vital your work is in the world!  And the truth is – no woman could do what you are about to do.  This work needs a strong yet vulnerable man to pull it off successfully.  It needs someone uniquely qualified for this mission, someone who has walked in the same shoes, someone who can lead them out of the hole with grace and humility.

    @davidj – That someone is YOU!!!

    UPDATE on progress!

    Got 40 responses to the survey.

    About half said they want or are interested in a MASTERHEART!

    Got much rich feedback. Also my wife took the survey and chimed in. She a wise lady! : )

    My goal was accomplished this month AND… now for a shameless plug thinly related to ecourses… here is another launch I made yesterday that has been TWO years in the making…

    https://www.integrayw.com/novel

    I’ve been co-writing a novel.

    @mars  @chrisg    @bradleytmorris     @saramccann   @laurakoller   @bobbiejo

    If you know any parents, teachers or therapists who know TWEENS who struggle with being brave, school, oppressive samurai (bullies) and/or zombies (in any order)… this book will be a page turning change your life adventure story…

    : )

    THANKS again for your support this month!

    I am so proud and grateful to be climbing up this mountain… learning lots and deepening connections…

    WOOHOO!!!

    Just think of all you’ve learned this month, and the courage you displayed by stepping out on an unfamiliar ledge.

    And, geez, you did all that while getting ready to launch a book, too?  Crazy.

    I’ll see if I can give you input on the book from my two older boys (ages 9 and 11).

    Many, many, many kudos to you.

    @DavidJ, that is absolutely, ridiculously, completely awesome.

    a) 40 folks responding and 20ish saying they want it. I know you’ll have no problem getting your first 8 or so (core group). What’s your next step to make that magic happen? Do you have a format intended for the group?

    b) A book!? How freaking fun. Just watched your video. Can’t believe you kept that a secret. I’ve got a book editor/designer/formatter/cover-maker guy if you want an intro.

    I’m actually heading off this weekend for a 4-day book writing retreat for myself. I’ve written my first 4-chapters of my Inner Focus Golf book and the intention is to flush through the remaining 15 chapters while away (first draft style) and then I’ll edit it before January’s over and launch in the spring.

    Congratulations for all the momentum in your life my friend. It’s a glorious life!

    @bradleytmorris – Have you considered signing up for NaNoWriMo?  This is perfect timing, and what a great opportunity to “challenge” yourself to finish this month!

    First I’ve heard of it @laurakoller. I don’t think I need any accountability. This book has been wanting to come out for so long and finally I have a container for it to flood out of me. I think I’ll have it written and ready for editing by the end next week  😀

    I’ll check it out though. Thanks for the link.

    @davidj Have you tried out Mighty Networks yet?
    I’ve been playing around with it today as I need a community but am finding it confusing and worry my people will too.I’ve made them a video showing how to sign in and get around and find things. Not sure why MN doesn’t have something like that when you sign up.
    Just curious what other people are finding.

    @trish_hyatt @davidj – I think many of us are interested in learning others’ experiences with community tools.  Please share your observations with the rest of us!!!
