Have you ever had an inkling that you’d really like to do something, and then had that inkling tap on your subconscious over and over again to the point that you can’t ignore it anymore?
I have something like that – photography. (In fact, @larry_taylor, I’m a little bit spooked at how similar our Future Now activities are!)
I feel really pulled to learn about photography, and yet I’ve never made it a priority because it always seemed so frivolous, and I never had the time. And when I became even more short of time after having my little girl last year, it slipped so far down the list of ‘things to do when I have time’ that I didn’t ever see it making the top, ever. Actually it was having a baby that prompted me to buy my first proper DSLR camera, so that I could capture her growing up in the quality images I felt she deserved. It takes great photos in a point and shoot kinda way, but I haven’t got a clue how to use it properly.
So, I’m committing to finding and signing up for a beginner’s photography course. I’m gonna learn the basics and start using my camera in the way it’s supposed to be used. And as a bonus challenge I’m going to see if I can use some of my own photos in my future course.
I’m also committing to sorting out my body, starting now, instead of whenever in the future I can afford a good gym membership.
I used to be competitive swimmer with washboard abs and a brutal training schedule. Now, I’ve got a mummy tummy and everything feels a bit wobbly. Frankly I don’t feel great. My body has been through so much in the last 2 years. I’m going to help it get back in shape and start feeling strong and healthy. I’m going to shed a few pounds, get a bit more bendy, work on my core. Gonna toughen up for this trek. After all, don’t want Sherpa Steve having to carry my bags… So, I’m gonna find ways to build exercise, stretching and core strengthening into my typical weekly schedule.
I loved reading your commitment to your Future Self in the happy new now.
I think incorporating your own pics into your course will add to the creative bliss of the process.
And indeed physical training is a part of this journey. We need to be in good shape for when we get to places like Marketa Ridge and have to scale the side of a cliff face. Get ready, this is gonna be fun!!!
