Just a thought for consideration – as we’re moving from checkpoint to checkpoint, it would be nice to have a summary log of some sort that could be referenced to read up on other adventurers’ journey so far to catch up on the background to any given point. Heck, even mine so far!
I see this as simple as creating a campfire where everyone starts a log and adds summary info as they go along. Individual posts would still happen at the campfires at each post for feedback, questions, etc.
Adding a summarizing exercise at the end of each checkpoint would help to facilitate / encourage this as well. Arkitect Forest 8 – Refine, refine, refine is a good example of this.
Hope that makes sense. Would be interested to know if others would find this useful as well.
That would be useful for me @lorrainewatson.
There are so many awesome campfires!
So if i am understanding correctly, you are suggesting we create a new Campfire called, say, “Milestones” or something where people can post wrap-up summaries for each checkpoint?
Or do you mean we could start a new sticky post in each checkpoint campfire that everyone can write a reply to when they have finished he checkpoint?
I like this idea overall – would love to clarify the best way forward with it.
@bradleytmorris – thoughts?
I was thinking more of the former, a new main level campfire where each person has a single thread and the summaries are added as a comment after each checkpoint. That way we could easily locate a person’s background info that provides context for the current checkpoint questions/answers.
I’d be inclined to call it “Mapping Your Journey” and then my thread would be “Lorraine’s Map” for an example.
Ah, I see – so that is exactly what the Progress Logs campfire is for.. But i can see how changing the approach to “Mapping Your Journey” could be very helpful.. Perhaps we will change the progress logs campfire to Mapping Your Journey and require people to create a post after completing each checkpoint.. I like this idea.. Then well have a snapshot of their process…
Thanks for the suggestion Lorraine! This is great 🙂
I saw the progress logs as another accountability tool, and here’s what’s been happening this week sort of thing. I see that having a different purpose.
The anal geek part of me would prefer to see a separate campfire that has one thread per person so the background / summary info per week is easy to find and reads somewhat chronologically as each checkpoint summary is added as a comment.
Got it.. yeah i feel ya..
My hesitation with having both is that it would be confusing for the less than tech-savvy people.. Using one really well is better than using both half-assed. hah..
Ill discuss with bradley and feel into the best solution 🙂
Chiming in on the value of this. I get that the progress logs might serve that function, but I kind of forget to update mine. . . .
AND I’d like to get summaries of where other people are (e.g., buddy).
