I’m am declaring my commitment to the August Challenge.
I am making a video of the 6 Times A Charm Charm.
It is a charm I adapted for fixing it when you get up on the wrong side of the bed. It will also change your interactions in a room if you find that you started off on the wrong foot or that the energy is just weird.
I will be making it fun by letting Brownie, my dog puppet, do all of the talking and instructing while I will be demonstrating. There are two ways to do it and I will be demonstrating both.
It is fun and tends to make you laugh out loud.
This video will be something I offer for free on my website.

August 20, 2017 at 3:58 pm #49287That will be so useful.
August 21, 2017 at 9:43 pm #49314I can’t wait to see this Akasha!
August 22, 2017 at 3:00 pm #49364That sounds so
practical and fun! I can’t wait to see how it shapes up
August 26, 2017 at 11:10 pm #49624Ok, so I’ve been doing lots of work on this and have even done some preliminary filming. I am doing most of the filming tomorrow. I am not looking forward to figuring out the editing and uploading part. I am trying Filmora as the editing software. I’ve never used it before, nor any other editing software.
As required here is my Outline:
- Brownie introduces himself and welcomes people.
- Brownie introduces the 6 Times A Charm charm.
- Brownie explains what it does and when one uses it.
- Brownie describes when and how to use the vertical version of the charm.
- Akasha demonstrates it.
- Brownie describes when and how to use the horizontal version of the charm
- Akasha demonstrates it
- Brownie summarizes again how it works
- Brownie says good bye and encourages people to play with the charm.
I will be finishing up the story board tomorrow morning before the shoot in the afternoon.
In the preliminary shooting we figured out that it is important for the film person to signal me when Brownie isn’t looking into the camera or has gone to far to one side. That it is important for the film person to have me perceive Brownie’s angle at the beginning each time so I can keep him looking at the camera lens. It is hard to do this when I can’t tell where Brownie is looking. I wonder how other puppet people handle that.
We also figured out to have a pen marking the line of trajectory to the lens so that I can keep Brownie in alignment with it. That he is much more engaging when he varies his distance close and far, rather than stay in one place the whole time.
We also discovered it is very hard to keep my wrist and shoulder out of sight. So I need drape my shoulder with fabric that blends into the background. The wrist will just need to be seen because everything I put on kept falling down and wrinkling.
That even though Brownie has a loud voice it came out really faint. So I will be putting the microphone closer to me. It is great that I am off camera for Brownie’s part so I can have the script right in front of me.
That’s it for now.
August 29, 2017 at 12:22 pm #49893Looking forward to seeing the video lesson! I can’t wait to meet Brownie on camera.
Interesting observations about the preliminary filming. All kinds of hurdles you never envisioned before starting.
Filmora is the only editing software I’ve used, and I found it to be very sensible and straightforward. I hope you have the same experience.
Good luck!
September 1, 2017 at 12:36 am #50054Reporting in:
I started editing at 10:30 pm earlier tonight. I am now done with the editing at 1:30 am. pretty good since I have never edited a video nor used Filmora before.
I have been filming or trying to film since Sunday. I only just finished after many interruptions and delays at 8:00 pm earlier.
I would upload the video and post the link for you all now, except it’s late and my computer is so hot I’m afraid it will catch on fire. So though, I did not make the deadline I came close.
I will upload my video tomorrow when I get up. And will write more about what I’ve learned then as well.
Thank you for the challenge.
September 1, 2017 at 6:09 am #50060@mysticsparkling Looking forward to seeing your video. Hope you managed to get some good sleep.
September 1, 2017 at 10:54 pm #50076I did not have time to upload the video during the day due to emergencies at work.
I have been trying for awhile now to figure out how to upload the video to vimeo. I am using Filmora.
There is something about needing to compress first and I’ve been trying to figure it out. I have read a number of explanations and it is confusing.
Does anyone have a step by step explanation of how to upload to Vimeo from Filmora?
Thanks!
Akasha
September 2, 2017 at 5:25 am #50079@mysticsparkling – How frustrating!
When I was ready to upload to YouTube, I clicked the Export button on the right side of the screen and chose YouTube (Vimeo is also a choice) and it was pretty easy. You could also export it as a file and upload it to Vimeo separately.
Have you tried that already? I’m so eager to see your video!
September 3, 2017 at 9:25 pm #50099Hi Laura,
I haven’t been able to attend to my video due to the heat wave that has been going on. My body does not do well with so much heat, it is very unusual for it to be this hot.
I did try to upload it via the button in Filmora, 3 times and it never worked. It could very well be my internet connection, plus my laptop keeps over heating and I can’t stay on long.
I will be seeing a tech friend this week and I hope she can figure out why it isn’t working
Thanks for your encouragement!
September 4, 2017 at 12:13 pm #50113That’s so frustrating @mysticsparkling I hope you find a way to work it out so that we can see your video.
September 4, 2017 at 12:13 pm #50115The best way Akasha is to “Export” to your computer and then go to Vimeo and click the “Upload” button. You will need a strong enough connection to upload the video, but my slow satelite internet can do it, so I’m sure yours’ can too. Just make sure the bottom of your laptop can breathe so it doesn’t over heat. 🙂
Stoked to see what you made!
