    Project Name: Seela’s Wish Website

Description: Create a basic website for SeelasWish.com, to establish the space and motivation to continue creating educational content for raising awareness and busting myths around the overlooked and less adopted semi-feral / shy, senior and chronic condition cats.

Why This?: Because I’ve been sitting too long on this waiting for “the right time.” It’s getting increasingly difficult to ignore the aspect of me that wants to advocate for this group of cats through an educational non-profit and establishing a sanctuary. AND it will also force me to learn the WordPress theme builder software I want to use for my other websites.

When: Throughout the week tallying up to a day’s worth. If I do, I’ll make progress; if I don’t I won’t. I know myself well enough to know blocking off specific times is sowing the seeds for self-sabotage.

What a beautiful, kind hearted, wonderful project to do Lorraine!!!

    I love sweet old cats.

We had a cat that lived to 23 as a kid. She was quite senial at the end of her days. And so sweet.

Upside: Getting my head around what I want to include on the site, which indicates a greater clarity (but not entirety) about the direction this is heading.

Downside: Slipped into the rabbit hole of technology and what WP theme to use. Original plan was to use iThemes Builder, but not so crazy about that after poking around. Beaver Builder (and underlying theme) introduces a steeper learning curve. ThemeGrill I’ve used before and quite like, but suspect I may be locked into their theme without being able to add BeaverBuilder type enhancements.

I completely understand that feeling of falling down the rabbit hole of technology Lorraine! It just sucks up time trying to work it all out doesn’t it!? What I wouldn’t give for a part time ‘tech expert’ to delegate to. lol

I love your idea though, so full of kindness. Good luck and keep out of those rabbit holes! 😉

Sara, @sara-mccann-jgmail-com, you know, it’s funny that Friday I was doing a values and guiding principles exercise, and for my core value of “Simplicity” I wrote down “create / use what is needed, not shiny red objects.”  Then Saturday I sat down to make application / theme / tool decisions and I disappeared into the matrix … which I think is one of the exit points from the rabbit hole. A tech expert would help, but they would still say “what do you want.” That perhaps is where the rabbit hole breaks open into an abyss … finding problems for the techie bells and whistles to solved or getting caught up in “I might want to [blah] someday” than sitting down and scoping out what I really want to achieve and finding the tools that will accomplish that.

    What a beautiful project Lorraine.

As for the tech, I’d recommend you just use the Beaver Builder Theme with Beaver Builder Plugin. I love, love, love it.

    Progress Log Update #2 [April 15, 2017]

On the tech front, I’m going to test drive Beaver Builder for a few days to see what kind of headway I can make. Have a backup theme in place that has some livable limitations until I can figure out BB or another theme to use. First priority is scoping out a layout with some basic sections. This is going to be a “build by addition” project rather than have it all mapped out at once.

Been doing a lot of mulling on what to include for the initial content so that is at least percolating in the background.

LOL – haven’t touched it yet. Best laid plans for the weekend went out the window with debugging other issues.

    Progress Log Update #3 [April 22, 2017]

Purchased and installed Beaver Builder and Ultimate Addons, and looking at default themes. Have to admit I’m looking at the layouts trying to keep three different websites in mind. At least I’ve got this website positioned up front and centre.

The week also included a solid webinar on best practices for website structure to support SEO, business mindset related webinars, a getting clients challenge and homework for a three day SEO summit next week. While sounding pretty diverse, they were all really good food for thought leading to another piece or two of clarity to move Seela’s Wish along as well as my courses.

    Progress Log Update #4 [April 29, 2017]

Doing my best impression of a tortoise. If the fable holds true, even being slow & steady, I’ll finish the challenge with something.

Creating something Beaver Builder is a learning curve – both in figuring out the template and having to brush up on novice CSS skills. All I can say is thank goodness for google searches. Saving the good questions for Andy this week. 🙂

Took a dip out of techie land and did up a branding guide. ( [not] attached) Can’t say enough how much I love having everything laid out to reference (a gazillion times) when I need to type in hex codes.

Also sent out a shot in the dark email to see if anyone knew Seela’s background before arriving at the shelter. Quite the surprise to hear back from the person who arranged to have her brought in. Another person has volunteered to share the story of their shy cat to include on the site.

Two biggest things this week were 1) lots of idea popping to mind as to what can be included and b) letting go of the notion those same ideas would be implemented on the website by next Friday.

PS: Thanks for all the words of encouragement. Appreciate the company along the way.
