@bradleytmorris – I noticed that on your presale landing page which you mentioned in the first lesson of Validation Swamp, you said this:

“Our goal is to guide 1,000 creators to launch courses of their own through the Great eCourse Adventure process by the end of 2017. If each of those teachers impact the life of 1,000+ students with their course, that is 1+ million lives improved.”

Since we just finished 2017, I’m curious – did you hit that goal of guiding 1,000 creators? Any take-aways we can learn from on setting a goal like that? Thanks!

Hey @PapaBen, thanks for checking in on this goal.

Truth-be-told, we came nowhere near it. We’re sitting at 300 members right now.

I had a lot of lofty goals last year, but it turned out to be a lot of other kinds of growth that were less visible than numbers and revenue for the company. I definitely have no regrets. All is as it should be.

We spent $0 on marketing and put very little focus on asking people for affiliate partnerships. Instead, we focused on fostering this community, figuring out what the heck our message is, growing new relationships and Andy came to the realization that he wants to pursue his music career as his primary business.  (more on that later)

I also put a lot more focus on being present as a dad (my son’s 18-months now).

However, this is a new year and i feel a resurgence and clarity on “how” to grow our membership to 1500 this year. I gave a talk to 120 leaders at a retreat in California at the end of last year and it was extremely well received. I’ve already been approached by half a dozen people that would like to be partners and I have more follow ups to go.

The mission for GEA this year is to grow the membership and to help as many of you launch really incredible courses AND to build a Netflix-like marketplace to have all of our courses featured in.

We’re also going to mini courses for

    • Making Green Screen Magic
    • Theme’ifying your Course
    • Gamification

Plus, we’ll be merging with a new tech company and moving the entire GEA course and community over to it in March(ish). This is a super exciting change for all of us.

Will we be having a coaching session on Monday, @bradleytmorris ?

Really need to do the green screen magic course, and gamification.

Thanks for sharing that @bradleytmorris. 300 is a great number and it’s been so helpful for me that you are so involved in the community.

I’m sure you’re having a lot of fun seeing your son grow.

The new things like mini courses and the new home for GEA coming up this year sound exciting.

    Absolutely @PapaBen.

This year is definitely about growing in numbers and helping more numbers grow their courses. I’m excited.
