I haven’t finished the last chapter yet, but I did reformat the first story chapter in Canva today. It feels more polished and it fits with the visual theme of the other course materials.

    Welcome to the Lungs

Just for reference, here are some other pieces from the first module.

    The Lungs Card

    The STOP Strategy

    Practice #1

    Achievement Certificate

It feels like I’m dragging my feet through mud sometimes. I do feel as though I’m holding myself back and I could just rush to finish. That being said, I know all the time and creativity I’ve invested in this first module has made a noticeable difference – and it’s going to make every one that follows SO much easier. I’m getting there!

I’ve written 30% of the final chapter in The Lungs – the beginning and the end. The middle will be more dense with content and I’m struggling with it right now. I’ll do a free write tomorrow and I plan to finish the first draft by Friday.

That being said, I was suddenly motivated to write content for my sales page after watching Donald Miller’s StoryBrand videos. Here’s some of what I’ve got so far:

    Your Patients Will Love You

Learn to Practice Healthcare from the Heart

    START YOUR FREE TRAINING

    3 Steps:

    1. Connect with Patients

    2. Influence Behaviors

    3. Work with Purpose

Motivated by a powerful desire to help others…you pursued healthcare.

You muscled through every science course imaginable.

    You navigated your clinical rotations.

You invested incalculable hours, dollars, blood, sweat, and tears.

So Why Do You Feel So Frustrated?

Your patients don’t follow your instructions.

Your time and energy are limited.

You don’t know what else to do.

Now that I’m working on the sales page, I feel as though I’m back at square one – I’m working on my tagline again (which will also be the first words students see on my sales page). I have possibilities, but I want to figure out the “right” thing – something I could put on a business card or use as a brief elevator pitch. I have an English degree so words are important to me! This morning I picked up 2 books from the library and one of the librarians asked me what I was working on and I realized I want a few words at my fingertips to describe what I’m creating here.

So I’ve spent the last hour plus jotting down every possibility that entered my brain. I wanted some kind of aspirational identity for my consumer, not just a list of topics or outcomes. Right now I’m feeling good about this one:

    OPERATION HEALTHCARING

Become a Champion for Compassionate Care

Reconnect with what matters most to your patients

    Or maybe –

Become a Champion for Effective, Compassionate Care

??? I’m thinking my course is not just about generating warmth, it’s also about displaying competence.

Darnit. This process drives me nuts.

I think effective compassionate care is better, especially as it helps to describe your course clearly, that it’s not just all compassion there is an aspect of being effective as well which I think will call for many more people in your industry 🙂

Here are some more to play around with:

Putting the Care back in Health Care

A Compassionate Caring Approach to Health Care

A More Caring Approach to Health Care

From Health Care to Health Caring

I can relate with the marketing journey feeling like it’s taking you backwards…

And, following your journey here, I have seen it grow ever clearer and more concrete at every re-turn of the spiral…

As far as tag lines, I love all of them but most whole-heartedly support any variations that include compassion/caring and effectiveness/impact on patients.

That is what makes your work dynamic and deeply valuable. YOU are a healthcare worker who gets the system AND you bring in innovation and depth that is missing. Your approach feels better and is more human and wise AND it will help them get better results!

Trust what you have is already there and the process of marketing is like the sculptor chipping away all that is not needed to reveal the form that is perfect within.

@jonathan@jstewartmusic.com and @bradleytmorris – Thanks for your feedback and suggestions. I appreciate your support.

I’m at a point where I just need to check things off and move forward. I now have a completed draft for my sales page. I’ve decided to lead with a question instead of the statements above. It’s time to stop messing with it.

Now on to finish the final chapter. After that, my next task will be to figure out how to plug this into my website. Sadly, I am not looking forward to that 🙁

@davidj – JINX! You and I hit reply in the same minute. I hope you know how much I appreciate your confidence and support.

As I mentioned, I’m going to close the sales page for now. As a wise @mars once said – “Don’t spend forward tweaking and tweaking until you break it.” Amen!

I’m still here and the gears of my brain are still turning. I finished the last chapter of the first module, and once I write up the list of references the entire thing will be complete. Yay!

The next things to figure out – 1) course platform and 2) community platform

I love the IDEA of Mighty Networks and having everything in one place. I haven’t seen a course on their platform yet (I sure wish they had a basic example) and, honestly, I find the community setup to be confusing and not intuitive at all. I really want to love it and jump on board with it, but I’ve got some reservations.

As for course platforms, I’ve used Teachable in the past. I tried setting up my sales page there and hit some snafus. I may check out Thinkific. I think Rebecca had given me a link to one of her courses so I can check that out.

As for community platforms, I am resistant to using Facebook. I’m one of the 97 people on the planet who doesn’t have a Facebook account and given their recent problems I’m not eager to sign up now. I was researching this at one point and learned about Discourse, and then I got pulled away and sidetracked. If anyone can suggest something different I would appreciate it. The community isn’t 100% necessary, but I’d say it will be a HUGE part of the pull – so about 90% necessary 🙂

So this is my next step, and I’m feeling stalled out at the moment. I know it’s my decision to make. I’m just not pleased with all the options (especially for community) at this point. Any input appreciated!

Congratulations for coming down the final stretch @laurakoller.

In two weeks we’ll be launching the new Mighty Network platform and transitioning over.

As a non-techie, I’ve found it so easy to create on and navigate through. The day we launch we’ll be giving a tour and showing the inner workings of how the platform operates. So if you can wait, that may be the deciding factor for you.

And if you want to see a course, send me your email and I’ll invite you to the Art of eCourse Creation course 🙂

    Great work getting this far!!
