    Hi all,

Just getting back from a two day state wide homeschool conference in San Francisco.  It was a good opportunity to market to a crowd (about 2k people attended).  Got our site tuned up and did an “official” public launch for the ecourse.  This was a low key launch as our approach was to mainly connect face to face and do a workshop (really successful, said it was the most popular one there).  Handed out a bunch of discount cards and showcased the ecourse at a two day tabling. Next step will be working on our virtual marketing strategy.  Will keep you all posted on how that goes.  We have been beta testing with our local ninja network.  There is a global network of ninja dojos out there, so that will be our next strategy.  In the meantime, would love any feedback.  Many thanks to Andy btw. We hired him/Zenteach to create our platform and get us up to speed.

    Here’s the link:https://course.ninjasinnature.com/

    Would love feedback!

    Best,

    Ken

So Awesome Ken, Congratulations on the launch!

I have a few pieces of feedback from my visit to the site:

    – Love the layout and branding, the choice of colours and logo are great.

    – I also love how simple it is, short blurb, video, free trail, register here, love it, so many sites are overwhelming when you first click on them.

Just checking out the site, with little back ground info, I feel it is missing a few key pieces of information. I likely would not sign up without knowing a little more, Here are the main questions that came up for me:

    – In the video it shows adults and kids, who is this course for? adults, kids, anybody?

    – Personally I would like to know more about the content before registering. This could be as simple as listing the 10 modules. In the video I see all kinds of stuff, is this just bush skills or do I learn martial arts as well? Do I learn all the skills in the video like building debris huts and doing ninja roles?

    – Also wondering what skill level this is for? The free challenge is lighting a match, seeing how long it will burn for and giving a challenge back. This seems for introductory to me, which is great for a lot of people, I’ve met lots of adults who have never lit a match, but I’m curious whether the whole course is catering to the real novice or if there are more advanced skills and what they are?

Those were the main questions that came up for me. As I have a naturalist, bush skills and martial arts background I love the concept and am super intrigued but I personally would not sign up without a bit more information.

One other thought I had was that if you plan on marketing it to the greater Bujinkan community, which I think there is a huge need for and lots of potential, it might be cool to have a link that goes to another video that dives deeper into the history and ways that bush skills ties into traditional ninjutsu ways of being. I would love to watch Mark talk about this in more depth.

Hope this is helpful and again congratulations on the launch!

    Hi Chris,

You are awesome!  GREAT feedback.  Yes, I’ve chewed on a lot of your questions but haven’t gotten to the next step which is to do some more specific defining especially around audience.  The short answer is that this is the introductory “gateway” course that eventually leads to higher degrees of skill level.  We’ve been testing it out live with our local dojo test pilots and this level works as an entry way for both youth and adults but realize that it it’s two different marketing pathways.  I’ve been teaching the nature/bushcraft skills for awhile now and have learned that it’s surprising for me how many adults don’t know how to hold/manipulate a match or on the other end, how I know some 8 year olds who can make a bow drill fire and out track circles around most adults.  I kind of look at it as how most dojos have youth and adult curriculum for ranking that follow similar trajectories- adult and youth might both have to learn the same kaiten (doing kaiten in nature btw is in this course).  So…I’m chewing on how best to market while trying to avoid the one size fits all.

One approach we are thinking is to market this to the Bujinkan network as a way to invigorate programs- bring nature back to the martial arts so to speak, especially for ramping up the kids programs.  The kids we have been doing this with go nuts with this stuff.  It’s really cool to watch.

I’ll take your feedback and do some thinking with it.  Really appreciate your thoughtful response and would love to keep bouncing things off you as we really start doing some marketing on this.

    mahalos,

    Ken

AMAZING Ken. This is so exciting. Congratulations to you guys. I loved the promo video.

I second what Chris says, I’d love to know more about the program. What it entails. How long it is. Who it’s made for. What I’ll get out of it. What the modules are. Who the teachers/ninjas are.

All these things will just deepen your ultimate who’s BIG YES to join the adventure.

From what I saw and for the incredibly reasonable price, I was like Yes yes yes. But more yes’s can be possible with more information.

Amazing work to you and your team. Excited to claim my free lesson after this week is over and I have more time  🙂

    Hey Kenneth,

Here is a cool synchronicity, I just went for a wander through the woods with Laura Pinney. Small world ay! Sounds like we have a few of the same friends. Do you know Sal Gencarelle? He was up here last week visiting as well.

Looking forward to continuing to bounce ideas back and forth.

p.s. yes that is a homemade bow in the photo

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hey Kenneth,

Love the site, the video and very intrigued.

Echoing back the same comments as above about looking for more clarity on the marketing end.

I work with tweens with mental health challenges, teaching Aikido to learn life skills and the zeroing in on that age and the nature of their struggles has helped us to get recognized and develop a deep niche.

Wishing you the same success, whoever you decide to focus on first…

Kenneth, wanted to drop a line and see how things are going with Ninjas in Nature?

How’s the first group of beta students enjoyed it?

Do you need any support from us to help you with your next phase of growth?

    Sending high fives and backflips!

Hi Kenneth, loved the name so was drawn in to take a look!

What a cool concept. It took me a while when I visited your home page to figure out what nature ninja’s was actually about, so I wonder if you could clarify it faster at the top of the page somewhere.

This is the paragraph where I figured out what was going on (but I”m not your target client, so maybe that had something to do with it?)
    <p class=”bold_text tve_p_center”><span class=”tve_custom_font_size rft”>This pathway is for you if you..</span></p>

    <ul class=”thrv_wrapper”>
    <li class=”tve_p_center”><span style=”color: #151515;”><span class=”tve_custom_font_size”>seek a deeper connection to the natural world</span></span>
    <li class=”tve_p_center”><span style=”color: #151515;”><span class=”tve_custom_font_size”>want to connect to martial arts through nature</span></span>
    <li class=”tve_p_center”><span style=”color: #151515;”><span class=”tve_custom_font_size”>you want to fully activate the mind, body, and spirit of a youth</span></span>
    <li class=”tve_p_center”><span style=”color: #151515;”><span class=”tve_custom_font_size”>are a youth mentor</span></span>
    <li class=”tve_p_center”><span style=”color: #151515;”><span class=”tve_custom_font_size”>want to become fully alive

Out of those statements, it was this one that made the penny drop for me </span></span>
    <li class=”tve_p_center”><span style=”color: #151515;”><span class=”tve_custom_font_size”>want to connect to martial arts through nature</span></span>

And agree with other comments above. Great work, sounds like you were at hit at the conference  -we’re an unschooling family, so that’s why I was interested to click through too!
