Love this supportive community!! GO MARS!!! You’ve got this!!!!
August 29, 2017 at 12:18 pm #49891🙂
Just remember – you don’t have to actually know what you’re doing. All you need is desire and creativity. When you can’t do something, just think about what you CAN do and figure out how to do that and make things work. Resourcefulness trumps perfection any day of the week – at least that’s what I tell myself.
If things get really bad, just put the phone on a tripod and pretend that you’re telling one of your doulas in training about your first or most memorable experience with encapsulation. All you have to do is share one something memorable and flip a switch in one person’s head. That, my friend, is all it takes to make a difference in the world.
Good luck!!!
August 29, 2017 at 4:52 pm #49925I could not agree with everyone pouncing on you with so much passion and love and confidence in you AND I love your “bring it on” response taking the dares and doing it.
My version is as follows:
F*%k the tech side!
Just tell the story.
It’s bigger than you.
If it is wanting to be spoken and shared ~ birthed publicly ~ through you, than you have a sacred obligation to share it.
If not now, then when?
And why hold back your natural desire at the same time withholding from all the women who will need to hear what you say which could help them sooner than later.
So let it come out…
Imperfect.
Needing to be spoken and honed and chiseled and found over time, but knowing that tale will never arrive if you wait for something to happen or someone to give you a sign.
I’ll step down from my soap box preaching.
I know you got this.
One long take if need be. No editing if that gets in the way.
Just you telling us all the story.
I’m listening.
August 30, 2017 at 3:48 am #49931Okay.
So I signed up to wevideo and ended up just getting on with it. That’s right. I’ve completed my video. I’m proud of it. It’s not perfect. I really need to get to grips with the trimming of videos and how to gain back the second I didn’t mean to trim.
You all really boosted my confidence and refocussed me. It was exactly what I needed – to be told to ‘just make the damned thing!’ – Yeah, you used nicer words than that, but that’s what I heard.
So instead of going to bed at a sensible hour, I stayed up until it was finished.
I’ll start with what I don’t like or am not keen on. I couldn’t work out how to fade down the music. I realise that because it’s a free editing resource, and so my choices were limited. So I’ll work on my budget for eCourses etc so that I can use great editing resources. It was such fun. That may, of course, be the delirium of late night – shoulda been in bed- editing. As mentioned above, a bit miffed that I slightly over trimmed a couple of segments. Proof positive it should have been done in the cold light of day. I didn’t realise that the earths would move. Need to work out how to either prevent that, or just use different images. All of these things can be fixed. It’s trial and error, practise, practise, practise and feeling the fear and pushing through.
What I liked/loved – I love that I finished it. I love that it all seems to flow. I love that it has made me feel excited to make more and that I have chipped away a bit of my technology fear. Mostly I love that you all have my back.
It’s not how I envisioned it, but neither is it too far away from my vision either.
Enough chat. The Magic of the Placenta
@laurakoller – I think I’ve fixed it now.

WOOHOO!!!
SO DELIGHTED FOR YOU!!!
So excited to watch the video – but link didn’t work for me.
Darned technology!!!

THIS IS SO GREAT!
What an incredible video!
I’m so excited that you actually finished this, and I’m so inspired by you. The thing that was so memorable for me was the actual video footage of the placenta and your admiration and wonder at the beauty of it. The music really added to the overall feeling.
Honestly, I’m having a hard time coming up with words to share with you right now. This is just a really beautiful moment.
🙂
August 30, 2017 at 9:13 am #49947:blush: Thank you @laurakoller That means a lot. I feel the fire burning for the mini course now.
August 30, 2017 at 12:18 pm #49956@mars, you did an amazing job on this video. I can’t believe this was your first one. Beautiful work! So ahppy that you pushed through and got it done.
Once ou do their paid program ($4.99/month) you get alot more cool features for editing.
For future, you could quiet down the background music just a touch, so that your voice comes through stronger.
WOOHOO!
Do you know your next video?
I look forward to seeing you out in front of the camera more next time too. (one step at a time)
August 30, 2017 at 1:56 pm #49961Thank you @bradleytmorris. I could hear you all cheering me on as I did it. I think I’ll upgrade when I start doing my mini course – or should I say, when I am completing it. The next video has to be the mini eCourse which is the introduction to Doulaing. I agree re the music, I couldn’t get it quieter, though I did want it to be more background than foreground. I’m going to spend some time playing around with it.
@davidj you and @laurakoller were a huge inspiration and encouragement to me. Thank you.
August 31, 2017 at 12:53 pm #50019Love it!
Plants a larger context, gets to the heart of the story, and informs and teaches…
For someone who “does not know how to edit”, you have a good intuitive sense here, with the pacing, flow and visual choices.
Please let me know when you plan to make it public. I’d love to share it.
August 31, 2017 at 1:36 pm #50024High praise indeed @davidj Thank you. I just watched it until it looked like something that I would watch. I’m going to see if I can get the volume down, and then I’ll make it public.
August 31, 2017 at 1:42 pm #50026Mars, you did an amazing job! Soo very beautiful from start to finish. I am so pleased the brilliant and wonderful adventurers on here encouraged you to keep going and finish because you created something bloody fantastic. Very well done! (fist bump!)
September 10, 2017 at 10:30 pm #50626This was such a lovely video Mars! I have never seen a placenta before and it was very moving and just plain amazing! I did not know about the tree of life part. It’s just pure wonder. I loved watching it. It had a good flow.
