    How things went > Where I’m at > What I want/need > What I’m going to do.

Where I’m at: I currently have a small ecourse that needs some love! I also have so many ideas for others that are spilling out of my brain all over the place. My office is literally covered in sticky notes that map out what the next one will look like.

What I want/need: Clarity on creating art with the content I already have. Understanding the tech and which route is the best way to go that is cost effective and functional.

What I’m going to do: Continue to learn for now, until the clarity comes.

Kresta, if you think it would be helpful, I can help you get some clarity on how to organize and structure that material. (I’m an instructional designer and that is what I do). Send me a private message if you would find that useful.

@kressg23, given that you already have one course that you feel “needs some love,” I’d encourage you to focus on that. It sounds like the curriculum is there and you need to focus more on the student experience to make it more exciting and engaging. My recommendation would be to binge-watch the Great eCourse Adventure and furiously take notes as the creative ideas start coming in on how you could make it more exciting for all of your students going through it.

Be sure to track your journey via this progress log so we can chime in and support you!

    Curious:

    1. What is the course you’ve already built called?
    2. What result does it provide?
    3. What do you like about it?
    4. Where does it fall flat (in your opinion)?
    5. Have you had students go through it yet?
    6. Do you have a sales page link we can see?

Thanks for the replies, you guys are great. 🙂

Brad: My course is called Embracing You. The results are that it teaches people how to enhance their life with new (to them) ideas – how to eat good food, how to make healthier food options that still taste like their old not-so-healthy faves, how to use tools like essential oils to make life easier, how to be aware of toxins – minimize them, and/or cleanse them, etc. It’s a bit of a lifestyle course for beginners. I like it because it’s sort of me sharing my heart on video. I like to teach and people receive me well. It falls flat in that it’s not engaging enough to keep my students active. I have had 13 students pay me for this course and 2 of them have completed it (and loved it.) Here’s my sales page: https://www.krestaglaser.com/embracing-you/ which has gone through a few evolutions to date. And when I show it to actual marketers, they tell me how crappy it is, so I’m sure I have my work cut out for me. In my defense, however, I’m a one-woman show and am wearing all the hats to do web design, course creation, back-end programming, email automation, marketing, etc. It’s overwhelming, and I don’t like some parts of all of this. I’d much rather hang with my clients and help them to feel better.

I appreciate your feedback and am excited to learn from you all. I’ve become a bit of a perpetual student, which fuels me, too. So, thanks for putting out a product that’s awesome and fun. I hope to do the same!

Since I’m going back and “remixing” an existing course, I feel like my goal now is to write the story. Decide on a theme. Make it pretty. Make it fun. I am realizing that due to life circumstances, I have gotten away from my creative side – like FAR away. To the point where I feel like I’m down right not good at it anymore. Not that that is the point of being creative, but it’s a feeling that is there. I’m looking at my course and while the workbooks and the content ironically follow a lot of the teachings here, it’s missing that fun element. I love the connection, though, and I feel like I do the things I’m supposed to. But, there’s a major something missing, and I think it’s that creativity and fun. So, my goal for the next while is to remember what that is and to put it into this. Then, when I can get some $$ coming in and people are getting healthy and loving themselves while doing it, then I want to dive into a HUGE project that will not only be spectacularly fun, but educational too, and my dream is that people will be tripping over themselves to come play with me. 🙂

This is where GEA can help so much! Having a community of people who love to help! I’d never have gotten as far as I have today without the support of everyone here at GEA, if you ever need any help with things just post and you’ll be surprise at how many people will reply and help you out! 🙂

Also something I’ve found really useful for me…is don’t be afraid to experiment! Sometimes that’s the greatest way of discovering new things!

That is right – listen to a clever man who experiment a lot, and learn many new things.

Thank you all for your support, wisdom, and insight. I appreciate it tremendously. I’m somewhat binging this course right now (as suggested lol) and have literally so many ideas to get my existing (boring) programs turned into something fun. I love the concept of telling stories to teach and in a way, I do that, just not as much in some of what I’m trying to sell. (Lightbulb moment – Duh.)

I think the thing I’m struggling with the most, is what to do to get even a tiny stream of income happening sooner rather than later so that I can more easily relax to focus on the big stuff that will be the bread and butter. I literally have so much content in PDF and powerpoint form (all boring). Anyhoo, I will figure it out, I hope, and am grateful to be able to come here if nothing more than to admit that I don’t have it figured out. lol Thanks everyone. <3

I’m not sure how far you are through eCourse Adventures, but something that really helped me starting bringing in ideas for my theme, was to imagine my ecourse was a person…

(The exact question asked is: If your course were a person, how would you describe its personality? )

Then take this personality and bring it down to something simple, stuff that you can sprinkle into your course(s) immediately. Sometimes I realized as I progressed is that you don’t necessarily have to go big straight away. Sometimes you can start small and sprinkle the theme gently into your course! It doesn’t have to be as big with characters and animations and big incredibly ideas!

It can be done subtly, for example.

In my courses the themes are: Speed, Minimalism & Simplicity.

This is brought into my videos, by them being short – easy to follow, the minimalism affects how I design my PDF print outs, they are simplistic and easy to follow.

The simplicity is how I layout my information, rather than creating courses and videos that talk about a lot of information at once, it’s about taking a step back and getting the foundations in their first.

Another big takeaway for me was that you don’t have to go big all the time, in fact it’s far better to start small, so think about WHO your course is, what their personality is what they like don’t like! If you’ve binged far enough Architekt Forest will REALLY help! If not look forward to that part of the course.

You’ll be surprised at how simple implementing your theme can be! 🙂

There is always creativity waiting to burst through you @kressg23. So it is never lost. We’re gonna help massage it out as you climb this here mountain right now.

As for your old sales page and what those mean online marketers say, F’them. It’s a proto-type and the next one will be better. In the next 1-2 months we’re going to have web page and sales page templates for ALL of you to enjoy, which will help you make way better landing pages, way easier than you can right now. Good ones that convert to sales and students that is. Once our website goes live, our web team is gonna be taking that project on. By Christmas for sure!

As for the results with your studetns, 2/13 isn’t bad compared to the industry standards. However I believe you can do much better and by applying our philosophies to your courses, you’ll blow that stat outta the water next time around.

Don’t worry about marketing right now. Just keep working your magic, connecting with real humans, helping them heal and come to life and all good things will unfold from here. You’re in the right place now to bring your best work to light for many to enjoy and appreciate.

You guys are awesome. Thank you! I woke up this morning with all kinds of ideas. In fact, I’m leaning away from revamping my existing course and re-doing it completely in more of a story format. The content will always be relevant, but I have so many ideas for 2 courses now and both could be outstanding. This time next year could be completely different. Thank you all for your encouragement. I’m going to dive into Creatora today. 🙂 I’m going to binge, then go back through again much more slowly to do all of the journaling and prompts. For now, I’m just taking a step back to let the creative juices come back to me.
