So, a week since my last progress log – after my previous video I decided although it was a fantastic proof of concept, I wasn’t happy with the final quality – and it wasn’t something I was willing to post for the world to view/see.
So I decided to re-record it, so that I could have a final version that I was happy with the quality of.
It took far less time for me to get the recording done, and with a little bit of tweaking of my room, and being in a larger space I was able to get a far better recording
The video I have now is still not perfect, but I feel that it’s at a good balance of quality vs spending another 3 hours editing (because believe me I will do otherwise….)
Now I’m going to get started on the additional PDF’s and scores (as well as potentially some bonus backing tracks) and hopefully once all that is recorded I’ll be able to get myself out of Camp Medias 🙂
September 14, 2018 at 7:34 am #81536@jonathan@jstewartmusic.com Gooood second video 🙂
September 14, 2018 at 8:16 am #81540@xbobby thankyou 🙂 I’m glad you liked it – I’ve actually gone and re-rendered it one last time (it’s only the 3rd time today) to clean up a little more of the audio – following some of the advice from @blairfrancis and @bradleytmorris Green Screen Magic course, making those last few changes (and waiting for the render now)
I’m so happy I still managed to do it again this week! I now need to create the PDF’s and additional content! 🙂
September 14, 2018 at 8:30 am #81544This is so great. Love how you get to the point. The close-up view is awesome. Obviously, you noticed the little cropping error with the green screen. GSM is definitely going to help you take that to the next level for sure!
The living room behind you looked super real, so well done for faking the illusion.
I love where you’re going with this Jonathan.
WELL DONE!
Soooo, the question: Is third time a charm? Will you re-do it one more time?
September 14, 2018 at 8:42 am #81555Obviously, you noticed the little cropping error with the green screen
If you mean with the zoom in of the video – that is sadly not a cropping error, it’s a change in camera shot.
Originally I was going to have a boxed view, but made a change during the editing process which made it so that I zoom in on the right side of my arm and onwards – hence the weird clipping at the neck of the guitar.
I’m very tempted to re-record the video one last time to see what I could do to perfect it! 🙂 – but getting my poor wife to agree to being the button presser is another matter 😀

I’m glad you liked my background, it fits so perfectly, I’m also quite happy how I managed to get the fade out effect so it feels like I’ve zoomed in, it really adds to the illusion 🙂
September 14, 2018 at 8:45 am #81557I’d say do it ONE MORE TIME. Especially if you are intending to make this your give-away. First impressions are a big deal. As you know, it’ll only take you 15-ish minutes to record it one more time.
Great work!
September 14, 2018 at 8:47 am #81559As you know, it’ll only take you 15-ish minutes to record it one more time.
Probably less as it took me about that long to record it last time! 🙂 I was so pleased with how quick and easy it was! 🙂
September 14, 2018 at 11:41 am #81580Yep, there’s a good lesson in there about how much more time it takes to learn something and do it for the first time. That’s what climbin this mountain is all about. And then once you have the skills, gear and techniques figured out it goes so much faster! And now ya’ll will be bangin great videos out like it was nuthin! Way to go @Jonathan!

Indeed I will…anyone would think @bradleytmorris knows what he’s talking about 😉 It’s as if he’s done it all before 😀
All playing aside, without Bradley’s pushing me along with these videos, I would never have learnt so much! Sometimes all it takes is that drive and to be pushed slightly outside your own comfort zone! 🙂 such a lesson in entrepreneurship and life…:)
September 14, 2018 at 4:02 pm #81602Couldn’t agree more @Jonathan! Just hangin around @bradleytmorris somehow has the effect of stuff rubbin off on ya. He has so much knowledge and has been around the rodeo so many times that he’s even confident about doing things he’s never done before. He just believes beyond a shadow of a doubt that if it can be done then it can’t be that hard to figure out. I think he gives everyone courage in addition to the actual tips, tricks and information he teaches. Just makes everyone feel like ‘it’s easy ifn y’all know how’!
September 18, 2018 at 4:07 am #81769So this weekend it was my birthday, so I took some time away from the mountain to celebrate it with friends and family. 🙂
But during that time I was thinking more about how to improve what I’m working on, I’m in the process of remaking my storyboards to update them to the new updates I originally created with the full body view rather than the square camera view.
I was talking with my wife (who is my recording buddy) who mentioned that perhaps I should record in chunks, splitting up the video recordings into sections of the script (for example: Intro, Chord 1, Chord 2, Chord 3, Chord 4 Summary and Outro) and repeating them 2-3 times for each section so I can get myself the best recordings outta each section.
She also mentioned about a few changes to the script, which coincided with my own edits, so I’m doing those edits today.
Alongside this I’ve been getting started on creating my PDF files a few draft ideas i’ve been working on, because learning new software is exactly what I need to get myself doing when trying to build new company stuff 😀
Once again the mantra of what I’m doing is clean and minimalist as possible so trying to make the PDF’s interesting (with some interactivity (thanks @blairfrancis & @bradleytmorris for helping me discover InDesigns interactive PDFs – I’ve been using Acrobat for adding minimal interactivity) if you want an early beta tester of Workbook Hero I have birthday money I want to give you)
Once the script is edited, I’m gonna share here, and then I’m gonna get recording tomorrow evening – as I realized during my editing process that recording during the day doesn’t work very well as the lighting keeps changing…
September 18, 2018 at 5:10 am #81771Great job Jonathan and big happy birthday wishes to you. You’re gonna be an eCourse rock star by the time your next b-day comes around.
We’ll be diving back into Workbook Hero in October, so save your b-day monies in a piggy bank nice and safe!!
September 28, 2018 at 12:02 pm #82126I’m slightly overdue an update here… so here we go!
I will say this past week I’ve started feeling a LOT of doubts on whether I’m ever going to succeed in what I’m aiming to achieve! I guess that’s a normal feeling and when I shared that with my accountability buddy she helped perk me up again boosting me back up again (Thanks @monika )
This week I also attended a live training on how to create profitable live trainings which has really opened my eyes up to ideas on how to build more useful content for my audience. The more content I can provide the better!
I created my first piece of advertising for my first live workshop ready for next week!  Hopefully this’ll attract a few new people and there is a competition for those who attended the live training where it’ll be advertised to over 1000 people so I’m nervous, but hopefully I’ll draw a few more people in! *fingers crossed*
This week I need to do the following:
Mighty Networks:Â
- Finish setting up the busy guitarist Mighty network – getting it ready to go live…
- Figure out the best way to add The ACD’s of Chords course onto Mightly Networks
- Setup the Email waiting list!
Website:
- Get the home page design finished with updated text and information based upon my StoryBrand script
- Add the podcast versions of my blog posts to the website, as well as finish uploading them…
Email Marketing
- Make my way through Automatora River to hopefully guide me through the next point….
- Get my email marketing game on and setup sequences for:
- TBG Waiting List
- Live Webinar Training (coming in a few weeks)
- Welcome Emails (arghhh…)
The Beginners Guide To Practice Workshop
- Create sales page for workshop
- Finish art assets
- Get payments setup on WordPress & Zoom and ConvertKit…and link all together
- Start/Finish Slides
eCourse Content
- Script another video for a quick course
- Setup and record video
And that’s my week…:)
How’s everyone else doing!
September 28, 2018 at 12:39 pm #82130I got tired just reading this, Jonathan! Whew! You’ve got a lot on your plate, however, I KNOW you’ll make a BIG dent in that list and create wonderful material. You’re doing great! 🙂

Everybody feels that, but when I read what you will do this week, I will say that you are crazy.
Remember two things:
1) No one can run to the top of the mountain!
2) An eCourse is like a marathon running! If you run to fast in the beginning, you lose your energy, and it is difficult to reach the goal!
When you lose your energy, you begin to feel a LOT of doubt, that is also normal if our energy not is high.
So take it more easily if you will have success and reach the goal!
