@andyfreist, I ran across a reply of yours about an Illustrator alternative. Maybe about $50-$60ish price range? Do you remember your suggestion?

I’m also looking for a Photoshop alternative. I have Canva and Stencil and want something more that is hopefully more intuitive than say a GIMP.

And as a last Hail Mary, is there a piece of software that (easily) removes backgrounds. I have some cartoony sketches on paper that I can scan into the computer, but I want to make the background transparent (or change it out) while keeping the lines from the drawing. Does such a thing exist?

    Hey Lorraine 🙂

Yes, my suggestion was Affinity Designer, which is a vector-based design app that is a great alternative to Illustrator.

Affinity Photo is the same company’s answer to Photoshop, and is also an excellent app.

The cool thing about Affinity Designer is that it also does raster editing (photoshop style), so its sort of like illustrator + Photoshop Lite all in one…

    I can’t recommend both apps enough…

Affinity Photo is probably what you’d want to use for removing backgrounds.

Check out their tutorials and try the demo (pretty sure they offer a free demo)
