- Name: Wayne Buckhanan
- What I Do: lots and lots of things…some of them even make sense… 😛
- KindS of eCourseS I’m excited to make: self development and tools for life (or business) coaches and trainers
- What I am looking for in an Adventure Buddy: fun, goofy/seriousness (serious goofiness?), accountability, good at stoking the fire to keep the pressure up so my steam-engine work style keeps moving forward
- If you really knew me, you’d know that I’m a huge geek, listen to lots of different music, and love playing with “edgy” technologies in a bunch of arenas (fitness, teaching, etc…not just gadgets)
December 9, 2015 at 11:35 pm #4011Love your Title on this post.
I have heard of some of the things you mentioned in your Dr. Wayne, I presume but don’t know about most of them. I have been in the program for a year and have Beta-launched my first program. http://www.EquestrianAquatics.com but still have a ways to go with it in regards to marketing. My background is everything horses. I am a trainer and coach. By default that makes me a life coach for people. I posted in the introductions: I’ll be galloping to the summit, who’s with me?
If you’d like more info on me, my main website, which I need to redo in my spare time is http://www.horsemaker.ca
If you think we might be a fit I’d like to buddy with you but if you want to wait for more of a geek that’s fine too. I did however do every single step of my eCourse to date, from concept to launch. Well okay my son held the camera but I did everything else so I guess I’m a little geeky.
December 25, 2015 at 3:01 pm #5830Hi Wayne,
I’m a nerd myself, and I’m definitely an early tech adopter. I love tinkering with new tech to see what I can make it do!
I’m curious – I’ve seen the term “woo woo” several times, and I don’t know what it means. Could you tell me, and more specifically what it means to you?
I think that will help me better understand what kind of partner you’re looking for.

December 26, 2015 at 11:20 am #5871ETA: Since I posted this, I found a buddy. Still happy to connect in other arenas.
I am a coach and into personal development. Before I became a coach, I was a lawyer (licensing intellectual property rights associated with new technology development in Silicon Valley). In my free time, I act and direct with local community theatres and do my best to keep my kids laughing instead of crying.
I am an atheist who believes that so-called “spiritual” experiences are a product of human biology, that myths and images are useful tools for explaining the world to ourselves and each other, but that most religious/spiritual traditions get into trouble when they take a metaphor literally. Is that not woo-woo enough for you?
I was geeky before it was cool; I was my school’s IT wizard in the late 1970s. These days, I think of myself as more of a nerd (I read philosophy for fun) but my current fandom is Doctor Who. Previous fandoms were Buffy, Angel, Babylon 5, and Firefly. My iPad is inscribed “Hang on and pretend it’s a plan,” one of my favourite quotes from Neil Gaiman’s episode of Doctor Who, “The Doctor’s Wife.”
Happy to chat with you to see if we think we could be a good match for keeping each other’s toes to the fire, noses to the grindstone, and roses in bloom.
December 26, 2015 at 5:05 pm #5920@trish_hyatt — I wasn’t ignoring you, just been head down working!
Between end of term teaching stuff, the whole holidaze season, and putting on a live event in San Francisco, I’ve been avoiding certain sites (like facebook and quora) and hadn’t made the rounds to this or a couple other sites where I had been active.
Would love to chat and see where we end up resonating!
December 26, 2015 at 5:15 pm #5922@razdbybears — Hardy, thanks for reaching out.
My use of “woowoo” is around the meta-physical ideas that sneak into many self-development materials, esp New Age or (F)law of attraction stuff.
I’m happy to connect and see where it leads.
December 26, 2015 at 5:37 pm #5924@kate_arms — I look forward to chatting further.
My wife and I attempted to start catching up on Doctor Who this week — we’re back a year’s Christmas special! Have similar fondness for various others in your list, including Neil and Joss’s work beyond what you mentioned.
I agree about the value of myth and story — as well as the folly of taking them too literally — while still living and working within a Christian worldview. With a physics and engineering background, I have big issue with people who don’t know better quoting quantum mechanics to explain macroscopic phenomena and for self-serving purposes. I’m sure we could have great chats about the strangenesses perpetuated by blind belief — in so many contexts!
When we have a chance, would also love to chat about IP and your experiences down the valley (we’re in Napa Valley, in case you missed that).
Glad you found a buddy, and happy to connect in whatever other contexts work out!December 26, 2015 at 7:23 pm #5946Thank you. I am all buddied up but am sure we will cross path’s again.
December 28, 2015 at 5:30 am #6116Today is Catch up with Doctor Who Day – one last episode from last season and then the Christmas special in a movie theatre and then I will be off on my true winter vacation (sans kids as opposed to Christmas week which was with them), but I look forward to connecting in the new year.
