Wow @andyfreist , thank you for such an incredible response. I know exactly what you mean by “full-time job keeping everything working.” I used to manage 300+ WP sites and it was the most excruciating experience. This is the reason I went with Thinkific. Not to mention the gazillion of times I got hacked. I got so frustrated with the WP security vulnerabilities and bloat that I actually converted all my Sales Funnels into html.

One thing that has really helped with the security side of all things WordPress is going with a managed wordpress host. They are more expensive than typical “shared” hosting plans (like Bluehost, Hostgator, Godaddy, etc) but they handle the security and backups. In most cases, if something gets hacked, they FIX IT FOR FREE.
We host GEA on Traffic Planet Hosting, and we highly recommend it to our students and colleagues.
Wordpress truly is an incredible tool and I can’t imagine life without it – Though having the right tools is essential, such as a managed WP-specific host and plugins/themes that aren’t bloated or prone to security risks.

@andyfreist Thank you for sharing your knowledge, greatly appreciate it. Also thanks for the heads up regarding Traffic Planet Hosting, I will look into it. Incredibly, I have changed 7 hosting companies for my main sites since I started online back in 2001.
I have a fully-managed VPN and believer it or not, I have been hacked more times from my VPN than any shared service I ever had. Also, Namecheap just started a PremiumDNS service for $4.88 per year that stops DDoS attacks at the domain level. So now I am adding this service to all my domains. …hopefully that will add a layer of protection.
Once again, thank you for sharing all your wonderful knowledge. It’s a pleasure to have someone to bounce ideas with who understands all this stuff.
Glad you and @andyfreist could work things out Jackie. I had a feeling he’d be helpful on the technical side of community building.
The biggest question is though, what is your strategy for engaging in an ongoing relationship and dialogue with your tribe? 🙂
