Hi! I’m Laura Woodmansee and my company is called Starship Family Journey.

    I teach:

I teach parents how to geek out with their kids about science and technology. I do this by creating digital adventures and other products.

Why I signed up for The Great eCourse Adventure:

I want to create the fun, outer space themed course that I’ve been dreaming about. 2. , I want to feel comfortable in front of the camera. 3. By taking this course, I’ll be sure that I’m not missing a step.

What kind of e-course I want to create:
I want to create a course that teaches parents how to make fun, space-themed printables, etc. that will subtly encourage their kids to like science, technology, and the future. I’d like my course to take place on a space station or on a starship zooming through space – kind of like the Great eCourse Adventure masterclass ???? And … my husband wants to create a course too: Starship Engineering for Sci-Fi Writers. So, we’ll see how I manage to work on the two courses …

What makes me come most alive is:

Feeling connected to the Universe around us. I feel this way when I’m out in nature – especially around tall trees (redwoods, etc) and under a starry sky. I also feel this way when I’m experiencing a Planetarium show or some other type of exciting/transporting space/science media. Or, when I’m enjoying great sci-fi. Or enjoying music!

Other stuff: I’m a science journalist and graphic designer, so the words and the images seem to “inspire” each other. Let’s see … I’ve written a few non-fiction space exploration books (Women Astronauts, Women of Space: Cool Careers on the Final Frontier, and Sex in Space) and published a series of three coloring journals and a space-themed “Logbook.” I love stickers, packaging, and all sorts of other fun paper products. I’ll write more when I’m not sleepy 😉

So excited to be here and meet you all 🙂

Thanks Jennifer! I was surprised how easy it was to knock out the background with the green screen. Way too much fun.

Oh reading your desciption and intro absolutely delights me Laura. You are going to have soooo much fun on this adventure with us and I can’t wait to see what courses you create. You fit in perfectly to our wonderful, wild, weird and whimsical crew who have gathered her for the journey to Launch Summit. Thanks for answering the call.

Looking forward to launching that rocket ship off the top of the mountain with you!!!

    Welcome Laura!

I can’t wait to see what you come up with for your ecourse.

It sounds like so much fun!  The more play the better in my opinion.

    Hi Akasha! Hi Shannon!

    Thank you both:)

I think play is how I learned to do most of the things I do…

So fun to geek out with your kids!
