    Craft Your First Draft Challenge

A short description on what your eCourse is all about:

    (This is my FREE offering)
Breathe with the Sea and Be: access inner stillness in times of stress with this simple ocean breath meditation.
A short description of the module and lesson outlines (1st draft style – doesn’t need to be perfect)

    1. Short video (about our ocean/water connection).
    2. Guided (ocean breath) meditation.
    3. Journaling Question

A short description about your unique theme:
Ocean! All things sea and beach. This one is a little more ‘beach’ getting your toes in the sand and water (the next courses will dive in deeper).

Yeah… I’ve got it up for a few eyes to review. The perfectionist in me has a hard time thinking it’s ever okay (or being done) but I made sure to have something for my self-set deadline of today. Here is the link for a look-see and any suggestions.

Hmm… for some reason the ‘link’ button didn’t work. Here’s the address:

Awesome job Bobbie Jo. It’s looking really good.

Here are a few of my first thought pieces of feedback (take or leave):

    1. I really love the video. I like the voice over, what you talk abut and that you keep things moving. If possible, I’d love to see what it’s like with a little ocean wave sounds in the background, so that it’s not just voice over + silience.

    2. The sound in the audio is great. I found the ocean waves a little weak (at least with my ear buds in, as well as when ear buds were not in). Getting the background sound ‘juuuust right’ can be challenging because you don’t wanna over power the voice. But I think just a wee bit more waves would help me settle into the Ocean Meditation vibe.

    3. I think you need a bolded header for each of the sections of that page…

    Example:

“Breathe with the Sea and Be Video Tutorial” (something like that)

    “Ocean Breath Meditation”

Ocean Memory Journaling Exercise (something like that)

It will just help to break up the page a little more for all those page scanners.

    4. Are you setting up an autoresponder series that keeps them coming back to the meditation. For a sophisticated lesson on auto-responders (if you go with ActiveCampaign), you can actually track if they’ve been to the page, etc and target autoresponders. That lesson is in Automatora River checkpoint   🙂

    5. If it’s possible, I’d design this lesson page so that there is no header at the top that takes them to other pages. It’ll just look more legit.

    6. I find the light blue font on your website incredibly difficult to read. You may wanna go with black. As a non-designer, that’s my humble opinion. Curious what others think about it…

    7. The journalling exercise. I’d encourage people to write with as much vivid detail and emotion as they can to help pull up the cellular memory. Just a subtle cue that may help people not be lazy with the exercise.

    8. Whether through auto-responders, on your “registration page” or on your lesson page, you may wanna write a short story of why you love the ocean so much and how it helps you and clients to heal. (just a thought, as stories are powerful).

Question: where will folks sign up for this free offering? I don’t see it posted on your site yet.

All in all. Great job BJ. I think your tribe are gonna fall in love with your vibe, nature and the experience you’ve created for them. Really excited or you!

Thank you Bradley for all of the GREAT feedback!!! I will certainly dive in to those updates!

I still need to update my site, as it still features my old offerings. I wanted to get something built first to update it with, so that’s the next step.

As for autoresponder, what I’ve been using for email sign ups is (the free version of) MailChimp and for courses I have WPCourseware. For this I was not sure if I should just make it a page like this and the email goes out with the link to once they sign up.

Thank you again for your time and feedback!! Much appreciated!

You sound amazing BJ. What kind of mic are you using? I purchased a new lavalere mic thinking is would sound good but the sound was terrible. Maybe it is defective. I wish I could sound as clear as you do.

    Hey Bobbie Jo,

I just had a quick poke around, wow you’ve been busy a work. Congratulations on staying focused and the growth of your project. I love the feeling when you land on the page. The colors, warm beach energy, the visuals are quite relaxing. I also thought the video was great, well spoken, clear, relaxing. I do like Brad’s idea around getting really high quality ocean wave sounds going on to help draw us in a bit deeper. Also like his ideas around headings being a bit clearer.

    Amazing start, truly inspiring!

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Thank you Paulo & Chris!!!

Paulo- on the video I used a lavalier mic (Little Blinks) with my iPhone. On the MP3 I used an external mic (Samson Go Mic) on my Macbook (in Garageband).

*bouncebounce woof woof let’s play* hello! I’m your happy neighbourhood fox woman I don’t think we’ve met yet but I’m popping here to say hello and I love your ocean ideas.

I had a looksee just now at the video and the meditation track. I’m with Bradley i want MORE OCEAN ! more WAVES! more seagulls (actually not the seagulls). I work-play with bodies and totally get the watery-rhythm. I want more of that on your site — my favorite part of your video was you (?) sitting on the beach with mesmerising waves. I’d make the most of that stuff! Why have stock images of boring things like maps and sad girls when you could actually have the SEA? I’d love to feel by the end of it that I’m already on the beach, and I’m ready to meditate. Do you live by the sea? Can you record video of it? I’m imagining distance shots to closer beach waves to rocks…maybe it would be distracting but I’d picturing sitting by the beach campfire watching the waves as you tell me about water and finding it all very lovely.

I was listening through my computer speakers and couldn’t hear any waves on the track itself which I was expecting.  I put my ear very close to the speaker and I could hear something but it might just be my computer fan. It would make the difference for me, to actually download a quality audio of ocean waves with the meditation on. Just the voice alone is more generic and not as exciting.

I’m impressed by the video editing though and the quality of what you’ve put together is awesome! I need to get on this adventure again

Aloha Catherine! Thank you so much for your feedback! I will bring in more waves!! Yes, that is me sitting by the ocean in Mexico. I am a midwest mermaid, so Lake Michigan is my ‘local ocean’ but I do have footage from my ocean travels. My ‘buddy’ here is so lovingly gathering me more as she travels to many coasts as well (some of the ocean footage in the video was from her already)! Thank you again!!
