@davidj – WOW! You really are on fire! I hope your wife has a good set of oven mitts, or maybe even a firesuit.
@judyb – Museum theater? That’s a new concept to me. I’m intrigued. An interesting possibility.
I’d also like to hear resident “theatre” expert @mars join in on the conversation. As I recall, she met some powerful thinkers about the current culture of masculinity at a gathering just this past weekend. I’m sure she’s got some ideas and maybe even some contacts for you. This would be right up her activist alley.
November 28, 2017 at 4:11 pm #63900I did indeed meet some powerful thinkers about the current culture of masculinity @davidj KevinPowell.net is a race and women’s rights activist, amongst other things. He’s from your side of The Pond, in Brooklyn I think… though he may have moved West with his wife. I can never remember. Happy to hook you both up on FB.
Thank you @laurakoller I love how you think of my activist alley!

Thanks for offering some possibilities. That is exactly what I was imagining… mini plays strung together in a cohesive and powerful and progressive way… I already sketched out 25 character/archetypes that men will relate to easily and how they are staged and interact in different scenes… theatre just makes everything come out in a more real and immediate way!
@fiona
I am sorry that you’ve had such negative with men and that you have seen men in such limited roles. Another reason to make a play that stretches and challenges men to be more full and whole… by accepting more parts of ourselves and showing up with both power and love in our relationships with women.
I’d love to be hooked up with Kevin on Fb. He looks like a passionate and on purpose kinda man who I would love to get to know better.
@laurakoller
Yeah, my wife is pretty hot herself and so the mutual heat these days that are getting colder and darker is wonderful to share! : )
December 1, 2017 at 2:48 pm #64262SUMMARY of the November Challenge:
I did 20 days in a row of writing… 17 on the 750 words website.
My primary insights are:
About WRITING, it’s…
- Not as hard as I imagined to make a daily habit.
- Offers a great release for gathering and integrating many disparate thoughts.
- Awesome for unleashing deep wells of emotion and inspiration via free writing.
- Great also for helping me answer questions and sort through to discern and prioritize
- Affirming and confirming to me that “I am a writer” simply because I write. Not because it is judged to be of value or I have gained someone’s approval but more deeply and simply because I do and I am.
- Worth continuing daily.
About WHAT TO DO NEXT… Goals in December…
- Write two articles about martial arts being healing and transformative for parents and kids — to link to the novel release in January!
- Get articles published and shared via more channels: parenting groups, media channels, and other hubs where parents hang.
- Write and videotape a heartfelt message to parents.
Deep Gratitude to Bradley for sparking and nurturing this challenge and for all the amazing fellow writers sharing the journey!
