    Aloha everyone,

I wanted to share a little about my course as it develops…here is a rough initial description of what i will be focusing on, what it will include and what transformation will take place for participants as they progress through it. Thanks for looking it over:)

Yoga is a practice that is rich with metaphors and stories which can help us understand the practice and ourselves more fully. My course will bring this idea to life telling the story behind several key poses to help us see what they are truly teaching us on many levels (the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) and how this relates to our journey as humans awakening to our full potential.

I will be breaking down specific actions of the pose and the quality that it inspires (ie: pressing your feet down to feel grounded and connected) to help students feel that quality within themselves. Each pose and action will be coupled with journaling exercises that help guide the participants into explorations of different areas of our lives (past, present, future) that we can activate these tools for deeper understanding.

At the end of the course participants will have:

-established a daily yoga and journaling practice

-developed tools for focusing their mind to find more clarity and awareness

-all the benefits of asana practice: postural and breath awareness, core strength, deep systemic benefits, enhanced mobility and flexibility as well as improved strength and balance

-deepen their understanding of the key foundational and more subtle aspects of these 3 poses to practice safely and confidently (great for all levels from the beginner to the advanced practitioner or teacher)

-more knowledge about their own anatomy as we learn about the muscles required to perform the actions as well as the ones that are being released and stretched

-feeling of empowerment as they integrate these important qualities into their lives

Looking forward to creating more and more and hearing your thoughts on this idea so far:)

Wow, this is such an original and wonderful idea for a yoga-related course! I love it.

I’m excited for you to get to Creatora Heights where you’ll explore your unique theme!

Way to go Megan. Look forward to witnessing this course come to life.

    Hey Megan,

I agree with Brad, I love the idea of storytelling and exploring the history of some of the poses. I could see yoga teachers wanting to learn more about this and integrate these. I also think a lot of students would appreciate having a deeper understanding physiology as it related to a lot of the poses and their health benefits.

I’m not a yoga practitioner so I’m not completely in the loop but I do know a lot of practitioners and teachers and I have not heard of many ppl approaching the practice in the way you are referencing it. I suspect you are on to something pretty cool!

    Cheers,

    Chris Gilmour
