My comments were not meant to overwhelm by suggesting you have all these layers in one gigantic ecourse that is never completed or “perfect” : )…Adding layers could be a way to create a suite of ecourses that work well together or as discreet micro adventures in learning and growth.I love where you are headed and how discerning you are about how you’re planning…
I appreciate the comments. I do have this on my radar as one module in a larger set. I think that is where I have struggled a bit in finding the right theme. I like the ideas that people have shared and it has gotten me to think more creatively, which is good. I’m just not sure easily they could be woven into a bigger theme without having to repurpose them. I’m thinking about @bradleytmorris comments what makes sense and what is easy and fun to create for me.
Still working on the 80% – the actual course content & flow. Creativity/themes/characters get layered on after that, so I still have some time.
February 11, 2018 at 6:32 am #68607Hi @stavido
What if the theme was a radio station, and they need a good sound-man, and so should “we” make different sound challenge, and if we make them all right then we get the job?

Creating Lesson Plans for each of my modules this morning, I think I may submit for the current challenge. I would only have this week to complete it for the most part due to being booked solid the last two weeks of this month for my day job.
I love all the feedback and ideas that I have received from this community regarding a theme for my course. Realizing it has to be something that resonates with me, would be easy & fun to create, I have decided to make a hard left turn and go with a Hero and Villains theme. Not superhero’s of a particular genre like DC or Marvel comics, but I keep coming back to personifying the problems we encounter with audio (villains) and having the student be the hero. Or as the resent Monday coaching call talked about, it incorporates the hero’s journey. Members of the community would be fellow team members or heroes who work together sharing their knowledge and skills to fight these villains.
I like this theme because it has a lot of places it can go should I expand this training into other topics. The vibe would be more tongue in cheek rather than going for super serious like some of the Superhero genres. I envision Modules being called Missions, Lessons being call Tasks, and calling the forums Debriefs. Those seem to fit the theme, but I’m open to ideas of what to call these.
This theme also fits for me from a gamification perspective. I have been involved with RPG (Role Playing Games, the non-computer type) since the late 70s (probably showing my age here), so game dynamics are familiar to me and fit this theme well.
And a ton of ideas have been popping into my head, which I can’t say have happened with other theme ideas. I almost have a complete trailer written already. Can’t wait to put on my “In a world… ” voice (think Optimus Prime of Transformers). Two of my sons have already said they would help me work on this, so that seems to cement it for me.
Getting excited again.
Feel free to share your ideas with me.
February 12, 2018 at 8:26 pm #68686BAM! POW!! CRACK!!! The creative floodgates have opened. There is no turning back @Stavido. The rushing waters have pushed you down the rabbit hole and down down down you will go.
Congrats. I love the theme, I love your ideas, I love that your boys are going to help out. The fact that you’re already making the trailer is brilliant. Believe it or not, but the trailer on our sales page was the very first piece of content we made and we’ve never edited it since. It still feels perfect.
I think you’ll have tons of fun with the badges. Students can earn “SUPER POWERS”.
I can’t wait to see where you take this.
Sounds fun.
February 12, 2018 at 11:48 pm #68697February 13, 2018 at 4:13 am #68706Thanks guys, and thanks Brad for that insight about creating your trailer first. I know they always suggest writing an introduction after you have written your material, but I always seem to want to know the start of something first. Also establishes an expectation of things to come. And they are fun.

@bradleytmorris, your BAM! POW!! CRACK!!! reference inspired me to write some fun theme music to go with the trailer. Check it out: https://youtu.be/6MWcUwo8XCI I’m not a SoundCloud fan, so I created a blue screen video so I could stream the music on Youtube.

@bradleytmorris, I used Ableton Live Suite primarily. Some samples I manipulated, and software synthesizers that I played within Ableton. Also did effects, mixdown and mastering in Ableton.
I also have a villain theme I am considering. Used the same process as above, with the addition of my Arturia Microbrute analog synthesizer that makes the heavy drone sound – you’ll see it in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYETZR_rXpQ
Let me know what you think of my villain theme.
February 15, 2018 at 4:04 pm #68862Love it. I’m so excited to see how you create this one.
Do you have a super hero costume?
Don’t know why, but I’m imagining you with a blue eye mask on and spiked hair. LOL
February 17, 2018 at 6:50 am #68938Week 4: February 17, 2018
I feel like I have accomplished a great deal in three weeks. Feels a little slower this past week because I’m in the thick of getting the details down for my course. Ideation is always messy in the beginning, but then clarity emerges on the other side of that process.
Hopefully will get most of the details outlined for my course this week, and complete the February Challenge.
February 18, 2018
Got the 11 Modules and 39 Lessons outlined for the February Challenge. I have about a 3rd of the lesson plans complete. Will work to get those added to complete the challenge before the month’s end.
February 19-20, 2018
Continue to pick off a few lesson plans each day. I have now outlined 15 of 37 lessons. Decided to consolidate the last three modules into one module and reduce the lesson count by two. Eleven modules just seemed too long. I am encouraged that even though I am in the midst of a heavy schedule in my day job, I am making steady progress towards completing the February Challenge, and more importantly, my course.
February 21, 2018
Outlined three more lessons this morning, and decided to eliminate one more, so I am now exactly 50% complete with my lesson plans. (18 of 36)
February 22-23, 2018
Outlined four more lessons and eliminated another bring the total number down to 35. (62% complete) AM
Completed 26 of 35 (74% complete) PM -
