I just found out about an app called Duolingo, as recommended by Tim Ferriss.

I’ve never really had a big drive to learn a new language, but thought I’d check out the app.

After a few clicks, i was totally hooked.

Their platform feels like a much more refined version of what we’ve created here – it feels fun and cartoony, you earn badges/items, you earn “lingots” which is their own currency, and can purchase things in their virtual shop.

The entire thing is gamified. And there are community discussion forums, which you have to earn access to by completing a few lessons.

One thing that really stands out is that the whole thing is based around developing a daily habit, so it tracks your “streak” of how many days in a row you complete lessons and make progress. F’ing brilliant!

Even if you have no interest in learning a new language, I HIGHLY recommend you check out this app just for the sake of research and to experience an extremely well-made gamified e-learning experience.

I love how simple and well thought out this is.

Great example of a fully gamified learning experience!

We are following in their footsteps. Imagine where the Great eCourse Adventure will be in five years from now…!?

Ohh I am a big Duolingo fan! I finished the Spanish course. The only complaint is that you cannot do much with your Lingots. I heard they use it in the WhiteHouse. My 55 year old Uncle uses it and he is obsessed. I never thought he would be learning Spanish so it does work.

I am just looking into myCredly and Badge OS so here is hoping. Is it hard to use? I am a bit scared it’s going to be very complicated

I just spent the day with past clients. Dad is using Duolingo to learn Norwegian. It’s a sign. I must get on to it.
